FROM THE C. D. AND W. HIGHER EDUCATION ALLOCATION.

Attached is a copy of an application dated 29th

April 1948 submitted by Mr. Sloss, for grants to meet various needs of the University of Hong Kong, totalling £255,500.

The Colonial Office will not be able to place this application formally before the Colonial University Grants Advisory Committee until there has been consultation with the Governor of Hong Kong. It will, however, probably be brought informally to the attention of the Grants Committee at its

next meeting.

The requests for grants are submitted to the Executive Committee for comment on their academic aspects.
